THE CHOSEN OF GOD

      Luke 23:35 And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided [him], saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.

      Christ is on the cross. He prays, "Father, forgive them". The people stand beholding Him, the rulers deride Him and mock Him. What a picture! What a slur! "If Thou be the Christ, The Chosen One of God!"? So do men today. The question mark grows as the days go by, but the Title which was given Him in derision is a wonderfully true one, and is found again in 1Pt 2:4. Yes Indeed! Chosen before the foundation of the Earth and the only One who could be chosen for the great work of our Redemption!

      Lord, Thou has chosen Him, and Thou hast chosen us. May we adore and glorify Thee this day. Amen.
