John 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
Here is the fourth assertion of our Lord concerning Himself as the "Bread of Heaven", the "True Bread". "Bread of God", "Bread of Life", and now "Living Bread". And He tells us that He will lay down His Own Life in order that we may have this Living Bread to eat and so Live forever. The process by which we are to nourish the New Nature which we received by accepting Him is by feeding on Him. If our bodies do not assimilate food they perish, we are able-bodied. Here is a searching lesson: Many believers are not strong. Paul says, "For this cause many are weak and sickly among you and many sleep!"
Lord, make us strong through feeding upon Thyself. Amen.
