My Lord and My God

      "And Thomas answered and said unto Him, My Lord and my God" John 20:28

      Thomas is the doubting disciple. He loved His Lord and had been willing to die with Him, but could not believe in His bodily resurrection. He demanded a definite proof. Eight days had passed when he is confronted with the risen Jesus who says, "Put your finger in my hands, and put your hand in my side; and be not faithless but believing," and out of a heart throbbing with joy Thomas cries, "My Lord and my God." HOw sympathetically loving is our Lord with our unbelief. How patient He is, yet how He longs for our unquestioning, implicit faith. Let us honor Him by believing Him with all our heart.

      Our Lord and our God, help us today to look upon the wounds which Thou carriest for us and with full faith renew our pledge of loyalty to Thee. Amen.
