"One Lord, one faith, one baptism.." Ephesians. 4:5
The apostle is stating in this and the succeeding verses a great truth concerning the church. There is a sevenfold unity. One body -composed of believers. One Spirit -the Holy Spirit who dwells within every believer and unites them together in the common bond. One hope -the blessed hope of His coming. One Lord - the Lord over all. One faith -and that founded on the one Lord. One baptism -and that the baptism of the Holy Spirit. One God and Father of all -the object of our faith and in whose name all believers are baptized. We are not our own. We were bought with a great price. We are His subjects, under His rule and authority.
Lord Jesus, let us bow to Thee as the one Lord, and with loyal hearts yield to Thy authority. Amen.
