      "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the Just for the unjust." 1 Peter 3:18

      How strong is the contrast here-the Just for the unjust! Why this sacrifice? That He might bring us to God, making it possible for us to have access through the rent veil to the Holy of Holies. He was the Just, the Sinless One. "He became obedient unto death" bearing our sins that He might "bring us to God." Sin demands punishment. Jesus kept the law and took our place who were violators of law, setting us free from the penalty and according to us the rights and titles of "just ones." Think of the cross, the agony, the pain, the shameful death-all for you and me!

      Oh, Thou Just One, Thou who hast paid the penalty and the price for our sins, help us to bear Thee in our hearts today. Amen.
